Organizing, Finances, Kids, & Changes, Oh My!

When I started this blog, I did it to encourage myself to get my house and life in order. I love to organize, so I thought this would be fun. Well, while I've been enjoying writing and feeling like I have a daily "job", I'm just not really happy with the direction in which I have started taking this blog. I'm no professional organizer, just a wanna-be, so I really want to back away from the path I was starting to go down - a bossy one! =)

In addition to enjoying organizing, I really enjoy saving money and seeing how far I can stretch a buck. My husband and I currently don't carry any debt other than our mortgage. (We've both been very lucky and very strategic with our money.) At a couple of points, though, we've leaned on our main credit cards. This may sound silly, but I really got a kick out of figuring out how we'd go about paying off the credit card and how quickly we could do it. Now, we were never in debt by much, but I enjoyed the challenge that debt offered.

One other topic I like to talk about and makes me happy is my family. I love to share stories about my kids in addition to hearing stories about others' kids. Our two very different dogs provide a bit of humor from time to time as well.

I guess what I'm saying is that I may take this blog in a whole other direction than I had initially planned. I think I might try to figure out how to mix these three interests of mine. I know, good luck, huh? Unfortunately, this blog itself likely won't be very "well organized" for a while. Hopefully it'll be more enjoyable to read with changing things up and me writing more in the same style that I talk.

A New Year, Time To Start Blogging!!!

I originally planned on starting this blog about ten months ago. Unfortunately, between caring for three young children and dealing with everything related to moving, I never managed to get this blog in gear. Now, I have high hopes to get my life and home organized in 2010. I hope you do to0!

I am not a professional organizer, although there have been many times the thought of organizing as a job has made me quite giddy. Yep, it's a sickness! As far as blogging goes, it is a learning experience for me. I'm slowly learning how to get certain features of the site working and will possibly have some glitches until I get it all figured out. Please bear with me. It will get better! If a feature or link won't work for you, please let me know so I can get it fixed.

I am hoping to publish new posts daily or at least every other day at the least. Please join me on this journey to become well organized!

There are many topics that I hope to cover through this blog. If you have any ideas, especially ones that aren't listed here, please let me know. I would love to know what you would like to read about!

There is more to organizing than just cute little boxes and bins, although I love those! When I think of organizing, I think about time, finances, clutter, and anything we can do to help make our lives easier.

I hope to blog about various topics including: scheduling, organizing particular rooms or places in the home or office, being organized financially and how it can help you save money, de-cluttering, and various products you can use to help make your home and life more organized. My family may have a move in our near future, so I'll probably relate some organization topics to moving.

I find that I can be very overwhelmed at times when looking at everything that needs to be done around here. Who has the free time to tackle major projects? I know I don't! Because of this, I will try to break each topic into bite-sized pieces to make it much more manageable.

Most of us may not have much free time, but we can find 20 minutes a day to accomplish a task that will help make the rest of our lives easier!

A little bit about me...

I'm a mom of three very busy young children and the wife to a wonderfully supportive husband. We live in the good-old Midwestern US with our two four-legged family members (our crazy dogs).

I had a job outside the home in my previous life - before kids - but am now a full-time mom. I sometimes miss having a job outside the home, but our children will only be young once, so it's worth it.

I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, being with my family, and organizing, of course! (Okay, now this is starting to sound like a dating ad!) I've never been one to enjoy cleaning, but there's something about organizing that really gets me excited. It's sick, I know! I love that by being organized, I can save a lot of money, time, and effort. It just takes some time and effort to get started. It doesn't even require a lot of money - just some creative solutions!

Am I or my house perfectly organized? Not exactly, but I'm working on it!

Welcome to my blog!

I love to organize (I wish I loved to clean as well!), and I love how much easier life seems when it is organized.

Now, I'm definitely far from perfect. My house and my family's lives have a long way to go to be fully organized. If anyone knows how to constantly keep a house clean and organized with three young kids, let me know!!! For now, I'm going to do the best I can, and accept all of the "fun" that comes with having kids in the house.

I thought one way to motivate myself (and others) to get and stay organized would be to start a blog. I'll share what works for me - and would love to find out what works for you - as we go through organizing our homes and lives together.

I'm hoping to post ideas, photos, etc. nearly every day. Please bear with me as I get used to the whole blogging idea.
